Arash Hazhir Azad (Piano, Composition)
Arash is a pianist, composer and music educator. He began his musical journey at age 10 with piano, which evolved into creating short compositions. He later pursued classical piano and composition studies at the University of Tehran, where he met his future partner, Yeganeh Hosseininia. Together, they founded the "Lyra Duet," earning notable recognition with four albums: Tehran-Mars (Gold Medal, Global Music Awards, 2021), Eight Minutes and Twenty Seconds, Vakil Bazaar (Silver Medal, Global Music Awards, 2021; Honorary Diploma, Fajr Music Festival, 2022), and Dasht-e Kavir (2023). Arash has performed in renowned concert halls across Tehran and beyond, showcasing a diverse repertoire from Western classical to his original compositions. He has also composed scores for films and theatrical productions. He moved to Toronto in 2024.
Arash has always had a real passion in teaching music, helping students connect to music with necessary technical skills, music literacy and creative music making. With nearly two decades teaching experience at some of Tehran’s most prestigious music schools, he keeps a busy teaching schedule in Toronto with students of all levels and ages at Sarv Music Academy.
