Darya Zonoozi
Darya Zonoozi (Cello)
Darya Zonoozi is an accomplished cellist and musician who currently performs with various orchestras and chamber ensembles across Ontario. While studying at York University, she was the principle cellist at York University Symphony Orchestra for four years and was winner if the Concerto Competition in 2013. She has studied with Mark Chambers and Andras Weber, and chamber music with Jacques Israelievich.
Darya has more than 10 years of teaching experience. Her teaching philosophy prioritizes guiding students to feel a sense of self-confidence and interest. She incorporates different teaching methods such as Suzuki and Orff Schulwerk in her teaching depending on each student. Darya is a very passionate and dedicated teacher, and welcomes students as young as four (no age limit for adults!) Darya has many students that are now enrolled in universities such as UofT, York University and Humber College for Cello Performance. Her students perform twice a year at student recitals and in addition she prepares them for RCM exams, competitions, school auditions, placement auditions and festivals.
