Weekly Lessons are generally most suitable and productive for most people interested in learning or improving musical skills, as regular and consistent learning and practice are the best way to learn. All registration must be prepaid. A late fee of $10/week will be charged if your payments are overdue. One week grace period is given.
School-Year Registration:
Required registration for students in the Suzuki Strings Program and available for Piano
37 private lessons and 25 group sessions, and minimum of 2 concert performances.
Classes take place from September to end of June.
Payment can be received in full upfront or in divided into 3 payments in cheques dated: Sep1 (40% of fees) , Dec1 (35%), and Feb1 (%25).
Pay Per Session or Flexible Lessons are ideal for students with prior musical background who cannot commit to a weekly lesson schedule:
Students will arrange the day and time of each lesson with Sarv Academy.
Class date/time will be dependant on teacher's weekly schedule and availability.
Bi-Weekly lessons will be considered under this category.
Cancelations / Re-schedules:
Re-schedules are only possible with 24-hour notice, otherwise students are responsible to pay for missed/canceled lessons.
To give notice on missing a lesson, students must call, email, or in-person at the front desk.
Maximum re-schedules allowed:
6-session registration: 1 x re-schedule
12-session registration: 2 x re-schedules
Full-year registration: 4 x re-schedules
If you can’t commit to a fixed weekly time, sign up for flexible sessions.
Re-scheduled lessons will be made up during the term (No extension of payment period). Sessions will be made up either:
On a different day within the registration period (Online or In-Person if available); — OR —
By lengthening lessons in 15 min increments on following or pervious weeks.
If the teacher cancels a lesson, classes will be re-scheduled. If re-schedule is not possible, registration period will be extended to cover for cancelled lessons.
No lessons will be refunded. There are no re-schedules for Choir or Group Classes.
Commitment:
It is strongly recommended that students commit for the school year, and attend weekly lessons regularly. A level of commitment is necessary for learning and developing musical skill. It is expected that students give a week's notice if they are planning not to continue lessons after their payment period is over. We cannot keep students’ time-slot if they miss a session after their registration period is over.
Ontario Education Act: "Music Lessons During School Hours":
"A child is excused from attendance at school if - the child is absent from school for the purpose of receiving instruction in music and the period of absence does not exceed one-half day in any week”
Parents in Classes:
For young students, and Suzuki Program parents may be present at lessons for note taking in class, communicating with teacher, and helping monitor practice at home. Please check with the teacher.
Security Cameras in classes:
All classrooms are monitored by security cameras.
Use of photos/videos on Sarv's social media:
We may use photos/videos of students performing in Sarv Concerts and other events and share in Sarv Music Acadmey’s social media. If you do not want your pictures/videos used let us know prior to the event.
Children't Safe Arrival and Pick-Up Policy
Student who do not arrive within 10 minutes of the lesson starting time gets a phone call.
Parents are required to pick-up children no later than 20 minutes after end of a lesson.
Parents are asked to make sure young students arrive and are picked-up safely.
Recording Devices:
Portable audio or video recording devices (phones, etc.) may be used with permission of the teacher.
Learning Environment:
Sarv Music Academy is a smoke-free and pet-free environment, with the exception of service animals.
